“Are we looking at room correction all wrong then?”
In the 1990s, many audio companies experimented with electronic room correction, with limited success. Meanwhile, a team led by Peter Lyngdorf had already developed its first RCS, Room Correction System.
Everything looked good in the graphs, but the results were mixed; as with any other electronic room correction, some acoustic problems in the room seemed solved but not others. While listening to music or soundtracks, not everyone was yet satisfied with the result.
Soon after Lyngdorf Audio was founded in 2005, an entirely new approach was taken.

Lyngdorf engineers had already developed the world’s first all-digital amplifier, the iconic Millennium, and the first set of truly modern digital preamplifiers and power amplifiers.
And then Lyngdorf’s interpretation of room correction, called RoomPerfect™. That was literally the icing on the cake: a digital sound calibration to minimize room acoustic problems, this correction system was – and still is – very different from any other electronic room correction on the market.

The first reactions
RoomPerfect™ was first launched as an optional upgrade to the Lyngdorf TDAI amplifiers, and later the room correction system became available as a stand-alone processor, the RP-1.
Until then, digital room correction, especially in stereo music systems, was never really considered successful or enjoyable, but RoomPerfect™ worked so differently that it provided a total positive surprise.
